I’m Jim Storie, proud owner of Masonside Blinds & Drapery.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I’ve been part of the window covering business for over thirty years in Muskoka and saw the potential for growth if I geared my services specifically to the rustic urban look that is so popular in the area.

When I first started, window treatments were almost entirely drapery with mini blinds and verticals the only “hard” window treatments. Now there is a myriad of window coverings from cellular to screen weaves which offer protection from the sun while not blocking the view. Draperies are having a resurgence but are coming back as an “embellishment” to the sides of the windows to offer the softness, textures, and patterns of fabrics

I recognize that window treatments are usually the last chapter of room makeovers, but at Masonside Blinds & Drapery, it gives us the opportunity to give the room the “wow” factor. For me, the most exciting part of my job is that every room and client is different and has different expectations, so it gives me a chance to be creative at every consultation!

I take immense pride in creating a grand design in the budget parameters of the client and believe that this aspect is the key to growing a successful business. One of the most gratifying experiences was when a client thought they would have to lower their expectations to stay in budget. However, I successfully showed them just how affordable good design really is, and they were as surprised as they were thrilled with our work.

I believe in pricing right the first time and staying ahead of the trends will continue to help us reach attain success month after month. We also collaborate with the best vendors who offer leading-edge style at competitive prices. We offer clients the quality and value that doesn't break the budget but gives them the chance to be proud of their environment. I also believe that positive referrals to family and friends from happy clients also play a significant role in our success story.

When I am not at work, I indulge in my passion for playing the drums. I used to play professionally when I was in college and still jam occasionally with friends. So if you need a drummer, let me know, I’m open to traveling!

Apart from music, the daffodil campaign is cause I hold dear. Like many people, we have lost too many family and friends to cancer, and we are involved in the daffodil campaign every year to help find a cure for this dreaded disease.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.

If you or someone you know could benefit from our expertise in blinds, drapery and custom window treatments in Muskoka, ON, I invite you to get in touch. Please visit our website at www.masonside.com.
