About Masonside Blinds & Drapery

Masonside Consultants is a shop-at-home service for window coverings in the Muskoka area. We have a mobile service that brings all aspects of window coverings from blinds and shades to shutters and drapery directly to our customer’s houses. Our primary area of operation is Muskoka, from Huntsville to Bracebridge and Gravenhurst but the area naturally expands to adjacent communities like Port Carling and Bala.

Nine years ago, Masonside came about as a decision after over thirty years of experience in the greater Toronto area, to seek a new opportunity away from the urban market. Having a place in Muskoka for almost the same length of time we were familiar with the different lifestyle requirements of window coverings for this market, and it was an easy transition.

The last five years have seen more changes than the first twenty-five. One major change was the Government’s concern about the dangers of cords to children and pets which compelled manufacturers to find new solutions like motorization. Previously, the high cost of motorization of window covers limited it to a very exclusive portion of the market. Now it has become more affordable, opening it up to the general market as well.

Along with thirty years of experience, I have an Honors Fine Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and an Associate of Arts diploma in Interior Decorating from Niagara College. I have also held executive positions in prominent industry manufacturers such as Kirsch and Graber.

Our primary strength is that we are a one-stop service. We handle all aspects of our business in-house from selection to installation to ensure we are accountable for the quality and delivery which sets us apart from the rest.

We have also formed partnerships with vendors who have innovative products at competitive prices. Moreover, we have enough experience to select the right treatment, the first time around, which is why prospective customers wish to do business with us.

I have found that our clients come from all walks and are just looking to escape their busy lives, looking for peace and tranquility, and an environment to create what is important to them. Window fashion is usually the last decorative feature in home decor, and it gives us the last opportunity to provide the room with the “wow” factor making our client proud of their environment.

One of our biggest achievements has been adding our urban expertise to a stress-free, comfortable lifestyle sought by clients to create elegance in a casual environment, often described as urban rustic. We are also thrilled to share that there is an upcoming feature in a shelter magazine about cottage life that details the decor of one of our clients which we consider a significant achievement.

While we are really passionate about what we do, we also care about protecting the environment. We try wherever possible to operate a paperless business, but our greatest Green achievement is our sales vehicle which is an electric hybrid car. We also believe in giving back to society, and as part of that belief, we support and campaign for the Cancer Society Daffodil Campaign every spring.
